With over 20 years of experience in project management and engineering, Dr. Rena Chen is a results-driven engineer with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and a M.S. in Information Technology. As a PMP-certified and licensed Professional Engineer, Rena excels in leading multi-disciplinary teams from project inception to completion, consistently delivering successful projects within scope, budget, and schedule.

Currently, as the Senior Professional Engineer at the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD), Rena oversees pipeline engineering projects with a significant capital budget exceeding $200 million. Her role encompasses comprehensive project management, strategic collaboration with external stakeholders, and effective supervision of project managers.

Prior roles include Chief of the Program Management Division at WASD, where Rena directed major capital projects major capital projects under the General Obligation Bond, Consent Decree and Settlement Agreements/Pump Station Improvement Program, and Reclaimed Water/Reuse Projects under the 20-year Water Use Permit. Rena also served as Chief of the Consent Decree/Settlement Agreement Management Section, ensuring compliance with US EPA, FDEP, and DERM regulatory requirements. With proficiency in developing various engineering web applications and membership in professional associations like AAEE, ASCE, and PMI, Rena brings a wealth of expertise to water and sewer projects.
