Courses from universities with accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) will be transferred under the discretion of the department. Course equivalencies will be determined solely by the department advisor, and Chairperson. Any other faculty member in the Department, College, or University cannot officially grant transfer credits under any circumstances.
Courses from non-ABET accredited programs (including Foreign institutions) will only be accepted as long as all of the following requirements are met:
- The college/University is recognized and accredited by the appropriate governing bodies (to be determined by our office of admissions).
- Any Engineering course must be considered an Engineering Science course at FIU. If the course is partially or completely designated as an Engineering Design course at FIU, it will not be transferred under any circumstances. All transferred Engineering courses must have the consent of the Undergraduate Advisor and the Chairperson of the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
- Technology credits and life experience credits will not be accepted as Engineering credits under any circumstances.
