Join us March 28 for CEE Distinguished Speaker Dr. Danny Reible
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at FIU is pleased to announce that the third lecturer of the 2014 FIU CEE Distinguished Speaker Series is Dr. Danny Reible, Texas Tech University, who will be delivering a presentation entitled “Sediments and Submarines –Indiana Jones meets Environmental Engineering.” The lecture will take place from 2:00 – 3:00 pm on March 28, 2014, in room 2420 of the FIU Engineering Center.
Reible is the current Donovan Maddox Distinguished Engineering Chair at Texas Tech University. He was Professor of Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University (1981-2004) and Director of the Hazardous Substance Research Center South and Southwest from 1995-2007. From 2004 until 2013, he was the Bettie Margaret Smith Chair of Environmental Health Engineering at the University of Texas and the Director of the Center for Research in Water Resources.
Reible is a Board Certified Environmental Engineer, a Professional Engineer (LA) and in 2005 was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for the “development of widely used approaches for the management of contaminated sediments”.
His research is focused on the fate and transport of contaminants in the environment, the assessment and remediation of contaminated sediments, and industrial water management.
