Alessandra Monetti, P.E. is a Senior Professional Engineer at the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department with 13 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering. She specializes in the design and permitting of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, with extensive expertise in the design of sewer pump stations, pipelines, and force mains. She has played a key role in delivering projects from conceptual design through construction, balancing innovative engineering solutions with practical, cost-effective implementation. Her background also includes government contracting and procurement, environmental compliance, construction management, and field inspections. At WASD, Alessandra serves as a Project Delivery Team Leader in the Utility Pipeline Engineering Division, where she oversees a wide range of capital improvement projects that strengthen the county’s utility infrastructure. Her career includes diverse experience across the public and private sectors. Prior to joining Miami-Dade WASD, Alessandra worked at Ardurra, providing project management and engineering services to municipalities across South Florida and Puerto Rico. She also served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Washington Aqueduct in Washington, D.C., managing facility improvements and conducting underground conduit inspections. Alessandra began her career in federal service with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon before becoming a test engineer at the McKinley Climatic Laboratory at Eglin Air Force Base, FL. Alessandra holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Florida International University (2012) and a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from The George Washington University (2014). In addition to her professional work, Alessandra is deeply engaged in advancing the civil engineering community. She has been an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Miami-Dade Branch since 2018, holding numerous leadership positions and currently serves as the Branch President. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Cuban American Association of Civil Engineers   
(C-AACE) as Secretary (2021–2025). In recognition of her contributions, Alessandra was named Young Engineer of the Year by C-AACE in 2021 and Engineer of the Year by ASCE Miami-Dade Branch in 2025.
