On April 2, 2026, the Lehman Center for Transportation Research (LCTR) successfully hosted the Second Annual FIU Transportation Systems Operations Symposium. The event served as a premier platform for experts from public agencies, industry leaders, and academia to engage in high-level discussions and strategic networking. The event, attended by more than 110 professionals, showcased the latest developments in Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) across Florida.

TSM&O Advancements in Florida

This year’s symposium focused on the latest developments in TSM&O. Key discussions revolved around:

  • Public-Sector Initiatives: Strategic approaches to advancing regional and urban TSM&O.
  • Cutting-Edge Technologies: Exploration of the latest advancements and next-generation TSM&O, including AI-enabled intelligent transportation systems (ITS), data analytics, transportation management center operations, connected and automated vehicle (CAV) deployments, adaptive signal control, and cloud-Based Arterial Management.
  • FIFA World Cup 2026 Planning: A featured session on mobility planning and interagency coordination for this upcoming large-scale global event.

A key symposium activity was the FIU graduate students’ research presentations, offering data-driven solutions for modern transportation challenges. These presentations included:
