The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) is proud to announce that the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academy of Engineering, on October 29, 2013, will focus on and showcase the research products that were developed as part of SHRP2 R19A project entitled “Bridges for Service Life beyond 100 Years: Innovative Systems, Subsystems, and Components.” A major product of the project was the development of the first and most comprehensive document worldwide devoted to the service life of bridges, “Design Guide for Bridges for Service Life,” hereafter referred to as the Guide. The main speaker of the webinar will be FIU CEE Department Chair Atorod Azizinamini, who also led the SHRP2 R19A project as principal investigator. The October 29 webinar will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The main objective of the webinar will be to introduce the Guide, which provides an outline of framework and step-by-step procedures for designing bridges for service life. The Guide is available free of charge through TRB’s web site. There is no fee to attend this webinar and registration is available online.
